Girls in IT professions: Girls' Day 2022 at software specialist eos.uptrade

  • 6 participants between 11 and 14 years
  • Playfully implemented own programming project in online ticketing
  • Insight into the mobility industry

Hamburg, 28.4.2022 - Girls can do anything! Few women are currently represented in software development.  The IT company eos.uptrade did not want to miss the chance to counteract this. There was a good reason for this at this year's Girls' Day on April 28. 2022. A total of six female participants aged between eleven and 14 got a comprehensive picture of everyday life in software development at the market leader for online & mobile ticketing.

"Took away a lot"

"We really liked the fact that we were able to learn so much about the different areas in a software company and develop our own first project," said one of the Girls' Day participants at eos.uptrade, adding "Whether I will actually work as a programmer later, I don't know yet. But I have already taken a lot away for myself today."

Learning by playing

In addition to interviews with various departments, the Girls' Day participants at eos.uptrade were also able to implement their first programming project themselves. In a playful way, the girls developed a project for a high-ranking customer of eos.uptrade, which was an entertaining quiz for passengers. The aim was to attract more passengers to public transport again after the pandemic. Based on real-life processes, the project was requested by Sales, a JIRA ticket was created for it together with Product Management, and careful quality assurance was carried out together following the finished development.

"We offer an exciting work environment in the IT industry that aims to make life easier for millions of people on the go," said Hanna Rump from the People Team, responsible for recruiting. "We are delighted that our offer for this taster day has met with such a response."

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the participants of Girls' Day 22 and our employees for their support.

Girl's Day
