Career guidance – Girls' Day 21 at eos.uptrade GmbH

Career orientation in pandemic times - it's not that easy! "The aim of Girls' Day is to give girls an insight into professions that are rather "untypical for women" and to get them interested in these areas at an early stage," says Hanna Rump, Recruiting Manager at eos.uptrade GmbH. This year, eos.uptrade was also there. "Skipping was not an option for us!"

Last Thursday we had the pleasure to welcome five girls at our Girls' Day. Due to the current situation, this was held remotely. The participants got insights into the different departments of our company and were allowed to work together on the development of a game at the end.

Many of our participants wanted to know what training or studies are required for a career as a developer, as well as what soft skills are particularly important for this job. Our developer Simone Haassengier was on hand to give them advice and support. The participants also got a first look at a "code" and the app that goes with it.

The Girls' Day was concluded with a successfully programmed game via Scratch, which was put under the microscope by one of our software tester. The Girls' Day not only gave the girls new insights, but also us as a company. Who knows - maybe one of the participants will be interested in an apprenticeship in software development later on and our paths will cross again. In any case, we would be delighted!

Despite the current circumstances, this year's Girls' Day was a lot of fun. We are looking forward to the next Girls' Day and hope to be able to explain the IT sector a little better to many participants next year.
