Award: eos.uptrade named among the TOP 100
Überlingen – Hamburg-based software specialist eos.uptrade GmbH made it into the TOP 100 in the 26th edition of the innovation contest. On 28 June, the company was presented with the award at the Jahrhunderthalle in Frankfurt by the contest’s mentor, Ranga Yogeshwar, its scientific director, Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Franke, and compamedia. Based on scientific analysis, TOP 100 measures the innovative capabilities of medium-sized companies. During the independent selection process, eos.uptrade, with its staff of 114 employees, performed particularly strongly when it comes to successful innovation. For the second time now, eos.uptrade has made it onto the list of top innovators.
In truth, people have better things to do than rummaging around for change to buy a ticket before getting on a bus or train. That’s why the Hamburg-based software specialist developed a smartphone-based solution to make the use of public transport more convenient.
The new tool that travellers will be able to use to buy mobile tickets is called “Next Generation Ticketing”. It will be able to recognize, via GPS or swipe-in on a mobile phone, when travellers ‘check in’ to a means of transport and when they exit. When their journey is over, the best price will be calculated automatically. “Our aim is that the system will be able to automatically recognize entry and exit. Travellers wouldn’t even have to take their phone out”, explained Managing Director Michael Kujas. The system it not new – similar solutions are already being tested in a number of countries. In Germany, however, it’s a completely new thing which is currently being tested by various transport companies. Right now, the developers in the TOP 100 company are working on a mobility platform that combines everything in one app – route planning for all means of transport (including public transport, etc.) as well as booking and ticket purchase with a convenient payment system. “Mobility is very complex. Our staff loves complex technologies and they love to try new things”, said Managing Director Christian Woodgett. “That’s what makes us so successful.”
